Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of attending the AMBCWA Chinese New Year Dinner, held at the beautiful Malaysian Dining Delights in Perth. And what an evening it was.

The night was filled with warmth, laughter, and a real sense of togetherness. From the moment I walked in, it was clear this was more than just a dinner. It was a celebration of culture, of the ties between Australia and Malaysia, and of the incredible business community we have here in Perth.

One of the absolute highlights of the evening was the Junior Lion Dance performance. Performed by children aged just 9 to 13, most of whom had only been training for two to three months, it was honestly one of the most impressive and heartfelt performances I have seen. The dedication, the energy, and the pride in preserving Chinese cultural tradition was something really special to witness. Everyone in the room was captivated.

‍Supporting Local Business and Trade Between Australia and Malaysia

The AMBCWA exists to support trade and investment between Australia and Malaysia, and events like this one are a perfect example of that mission in action. The room was full of ambitious professionals, business owners, and community leaders all genuinely invested in each other's success.Whether we love it or hate it, short-form video content remains the fastest way to reach new audiences. People don't want perfect. They want clear, authentic, and quick. If your business has been avoiding video, 2026 will not be gentle.

It was also wonderful to see such generous community spirit throughout the evening. A special mention to Cyril D'Silva from Millennia Minerals who donated a stunning Argyle Pink Diamond for the raffle, and to Sam Lim MP whose presence and support meant a great deal to everyone in attendance. A huge congratulations to Jason Lei from CBA for filling four tables, and to all the raffle prize winners on the night!
